With the theme “5 Years to 2030: Empowering ASEAN Youth for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future,” the event brought together young leaders and advocates to highlight the youth’s indispensable role in driving progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as we approach the final stretch of the 2030 Agenda.
As part of the program, Rafaella Villena, Network Coordinator of SDSN Youth Philippines, delivered an Expert Talk titled “Achieving the Global Goals Together: Building Alliances for Sustainable Development,” underscoring the importance of inclusive and strategic partnerships between governments, businesses, civil society, academia, and local communities, and the critical role of young people in driving collective action toward sustainable development.
In her talk, she stressed that today’s societal challenges are deeply interconnected and require collaborations across all sectors to mobilize resources, share knowledge, and amplify impact. One key approach is to build networks and platforms that bring together diverse actors, enabling them to work together and co-create solutions needed to address the complex issues facing our world today.
The session also served as a showcase of alliance-building in action, with Rafaella introducing the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), SDSN Youth, and its local chapter, SDSN Youth Philippines, and inviting youth leaders and organizations to join the network to help shape what youth-led action for sustainable development can look like in the Philippines.
The session highlighted the importance of building a stronger, more connected youth movement for sustainable development, emphasizing that by working together, young people can drive meaningful change and create a better, more sustainable future for all.
