Among the delegates were Rafaella Villena, Network Coordinator of SDSN Youth Philippines, who was selected to represent the University Sustainability Office as part of the official delegation. The summit brought together young leaders, advocates, and changemakers from around the world, all committed to drive meaningful impact toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over the course of four days, participants attended workshops, training sessions, and speaker panels on topics including peace-building, global sustainability frameworks, decolonizing development, and the use of artificial intelligence for sustainable development. The program also touched upon how faith and culture can inspire SDG action, as well as the role of businesses in promoting human rights and justice. Additionally, a panel discussion allowed delegates to share their visions for 2030 and to discuss how young people can contribute to shaping a sustainable future.
Building on these discussions, the program also included interactive activities designed to foster collaboration among delegates. Through policy-writing simulations, role-plays, and workshops, participants co-designed policies, projects, and impact blueprints that helped translate their aspirations into concrete plans of action that they could take back to their communities.
The summit was also a celebration of cultural diversity, featuring a visit to the historic Golden Mount Temple in Bangkok and a cultural night where delegates showcased their heritage through music, dance, and performances, while exchanging souvenirs from their home countries.
The Future Action Summit provided a valuable opportunity to engage with other advocates for sustainable development, exchange perspectives and experiences, and bring back insights that will help strengthen and support the work of SDSN Youth Philippines in advancing youth-led sustainable development in the country.
